last week was insane…this week is insane…

MOH L is coming in town next week w/ her brother 🙂 but things are crazy getting ready… looking forward to my first vacation since July this weekend…

But tonight I must design the GM ties (*hint*hint*) work on our guest book and calligraphy list, and do laundry O_O

R&P Wedding Update: KRGV 5 News

So the local news station interviewed R&P yesterday. This was good news b/c they then went to investigate the wedding company operating the scam.

Well this morning the husband owner calls R and the wife calls P claiming everything is ok w/ their wedding and that they couldn’t respond to phone calls because they had been in Mexico. Of course we all know that one of their locations was forclosed on and they stopped renting the other one…

Needless to say this company has been publically busted they shall face the due punishment…

R&P Wedding Update: The Venue Hunt

Huge thanks to everyone who has so kindly offered their moral support, help, and services! 🙂

The main issue now is trying to find a venue. Seeing as how May is peak wedding season and there’s only 3 months… EVERYWHERE is booked!

Last night R&P were able to find 1 place available for May 14th, but being the same night as P’s religious services, half the guests would not make the wedding including the co-officiant.

So if you know of a venue in the RGV that is available on a Saturday or Sunday between May 8-23, please, please, please let us know. Thanks! 😀

HELP!

Ok… so some very close friends of mine R&P were set to get married two weeks before Luke and I, on May 15th. They had everything set. A beautiful wedding for 350 guests at a new ballroom that was providing gold and fuchsia linens, the dj w/ lighting, a photographer and videographer, cake and catering. The Works!

Well 3 weeks ago, P decided she wanted to change something aesthetically and she gives the venue a call. No answer. She calls back the next day. No answer. She calls back nearly everyday until finally she gets an automated message saying the number is disconnected.

Now thoroughly concerned, her and R go to the other venue also managed by the same people yesterday. They meet with the building owner and he informs them that this supposed “wedding company” no longer is renting from him and has apparently made off with several couples’ money and has left no forwarding info.

So R&P now have nothing but a wedding dress and an officiant and have lost 25% of their wedding budget to this crooked company. Needless to say they are thoroughly distraught and don’t have any clue how to pull this off.

So I am turning to you my dear followers and wedding peeps. We have 3.5 months and need to pull off an amazing wedding of their dreams on dimes and pennies. I know it is possible… I have faith. And I am asking that if you are a wedding vendor or lover of making people happy, please contact me with anyway you can help this dear couple.

We can use anything so please just let me know what you can offer as regards info, discounts, etc. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart!

Amendment: for those of you wondering… the wedding is scheduled to take place in McAllen, TX which is in the southern tip of the state in a region called the Rio Grande Valley. And they are needing help with everything! They lost everything but their dress, rings, and officiant.

Cake and a dandy little topper

So we went on 3 cake tastings yesterday. 2 were automatically out b/c their cake was not yummy and they weren’t comfortable making the style of cake we were wanting. But then we fell in love…

Honey’s Cakes by Nancy Cortez

Her butter cream frosting was amazing! It was so light and delicious… and all her flavors were to scrumdidily umptious 🙂

Plus she can design like nobody’s business. She spent and hour and a half with us design an amazing 5 tier wedding cake that was a hybrid between these cakes….

We picked two tiers of banana and creme cheese, two of italian creme with raspberry mousse, and one with mandarin and pineapple filling for mom 🙂

Then we selected a grooms cake featuring chocolate with strawberries and creme that looks like the bottom two tiers of this one…

Add in two sheet cakes that will match each cake in design and flavor and we have all our cake for $900 with tax and delivery. We are so happy but we do have one more tasting on the 27th. At that point we will decide between the two and book before March.

Plus we finally found and bought our cake topper!

I was parousing through the premiere issue of Get Married magazine when I saw these adorable lovelies…

Not only were they only $16 but they are salt & pepper shakers so they don’t even count as a wedding expense since we will use them at home later. Score! And if they are too noticable, I can always cover the holes with a little veil and top hat 😀
