The $500 Challenge for a Non-DIY Bride

So I’ve heard about this challenge to create the best Bridal ensemble for under $500 hosted by DIY Bride. Good idea. But I decided to take it a step further.

I was thinking, for someone like me, a DIY Bride, there’s no problem swinging this. But what if I wasn’t diy-savvy? Could I pull it off? And what if I only wanted to spend $500 on the entire Bridal Party? Now that’s just outrageous talking, no? Especially considering my roommate just spent $600 as a bridesmaid in a wedding last weekend.

So I decided to see if it’s possible. I created a scenario where the bride is wanting a simple Sunday Brunch style wedding and has 3 bridesmaids. She only has $500 to spend including shipping and very limited crafting skills.

Here’s the results:

The Dress – $144.10

The Shoes – $23.94

The Veil & Hair Pin – $20.75

Bride’s Jewelry – $16.50

Bride’s Bouquet – $17.36

3 Bridesmaids’ Dresses – $208.68 ($69.56/each)

3 Bridesmaids’ Shoes – $29.97 ($9.99/each)

3 Bridesmaids Bracelets – $17.97 ($5.99/each)

3 Bridesmaids’ Bouquets – $14.00 ($4.67/each)

so this is the one craft project… the bride will need to take the two sets of flowers and tie each together with a ribbon. pretty simple… no?

Grand Total – $493.27

And there you have it… a complete bridal party ensemble for 4 for under $500 for the non-diy bride. Now I challenge you to show me what you can do with $500. I want to see you get creative 🙂
