So I was just reading Lauren’s post @ I Love You Much on the saga of growing out her hair. And this motivated me to share with you all a project I’ve had in the works for a little over 3 years now.

When I was a little kid, I was bald. I mean I only had the wispy thing going on until I was like 3. Case and point…

I’m mobile in this picture folks which means I’m well over one and look at the lack of that hair. I’ve seen babies born with more hair than that! So as you can tell, I was one of those 6 month old ears pierced babies so people would know, yes I am a girl :)

Anywho, when my hair finally started to really fill in at about 7 it was kinda a big deal. You’d think this would make me be one of those girls who never cuts her hair b/c she was traumatized. HA! Hardly. I clearly remember being about 9 having them cut 8 inches off b/c I always knew my hair would eventually grow. Back in fact, the more I cut my hair, the better it grows back.

And I pride myself on having very versatile hair! So back in ‘06 when I first got my iMac which it’s sweet little photo booth, I started regularly taking pictures showcasing my varying hairstyles. After every dye and cut there was a picture. In just over 3 years I have experimented with over 20 styles!

And I’ve made a fun little video for you all to see the proof. :D

So yes I’m trying to go natural color, long and bangless for the wedding and of course curly hair b/c Luke loves it. But post wedding… who knows! I’d love comments on your guys favorite looks on me :)

Classic Bride recently blogged about using these beauties as wedding decorations. And I just love that idea!

Ever since I was about 13 I have had a bulletin board that is COVERED with mementos and memories of everything. I have photo boxes filled with saved trinkets and paper finds. Now as I’ve gotten older I’ve been brain storming more “sophisticated” ways of displaying these. Of course shadow boxes and scrapbooks are old favorite but these chandeliers are just gorgeous.

Unfortunately the 300 bucks Pottery Barn is wanting for them is a wee bit out of my decorating budget. Fear not, I have the equipment to make one of those metal frames in my backyard… hehe :) (My daddy builds Channel Signs for a living) Throw in some cute binder clips – have you seen Walmart’s damask set? – and I have a gorgeous living room focal point at our new home :D

Me like, indeed! I’ll be sure to post pics when it’s done…

I’ve always been amazed by the concept of a destination wedding and just spotted these amazing invitations for one on Shop Local @ Etsy.

Ana de Roux sells them for $5.50+ depending on what add ons you want. I’d love to see how someone incorporates these into their wedding.

Spotted this beauty over at Thirty-Something Bride’s…

It’s a Fall 2010 design by Zac Posen. And I’m sure it’s so astronomically expensive my eyes would bleed but it’s quite pretty :) Altho I have to say the bottom hem netting reminds me of the fabric on filter bags :-/

But I could definitely see this as a the springing point for an amazing custom creating *wink*wink*

Ok so I know it’s a complete and total long shot but I would seriously be over the moon if someone would nominate my wedding blog to be on BrideTide’s 2010 Top 100 Wedding Blogs List :)

All you have to do is leave a comment listing my blog’s url address here… Thanks! :)

Now I know that was shameless but I had to ask O_O

But I’d also be pretty happy if you helped me put Fifty Foot Bride and Bowie Bride on the list. So feel free to vote for them b/c they are amazing!

And here’s a sneak peek of some of the shots I got at Adri’s bridal shower…

The mega wedding weekend is over and I’m not feeling so hot health-wise from it. But I promised you guys pics of the new generation of the money bouquet. It made another appearance as my gift for yesterday’s bridal shower and I’m please to report that it was a hit :)

In this edition, I included 2 roses, 1 lotus flower, and some buds… all in all it took 15 bills and about an hour or so to assemble.

And I’ll actually share with you all the links I used to back these :)

For the Buds I just followed the steps to make the rose heart.

I would love to see pics if anyone else attempts one of these :) I’m quite happy my go-to bridal shower gift is so well received!

Does anyone else have a traditional go-to gift?

So these are definitely way out of my budget at $130 but don’t they seem like a cool cousin to my own fabulous wedding shoes…

So today was suppose to be another school makeup day since I’m home sick not doing anything and I’ve done so so :-/

But I wanted to share another tid bit about the wedding: the big centerpiece reveal!

Now most of my close friends already are very well acquainted with the breakdown I had over centerpieces… You see a local custom which I was not privy to until a few weeks ago while attending a wedding shower, is that the centerpieces at any party double as favors. For starters, I never paid attention to this to notice before in my last 2 years here and it is not something I’m opposed to. I was just shocked and it threw a major monkey wrench into our centerpiece plans.

Let me start from the beginning…

In my early google wedding researching days I came across these lovely centerpieces, and fell in love :)

I LOVED the rustic melted wax and vintage mason jars! And after some extensive research I figured out how we could buy everything for under $200. Woo!

Fast forward a few months and I’m visiting my Grandmother (this is before we were “officially” engaged mind you) and I was sitting in her living room looking at her knick knacks in various hutches and shelfs. Now my grandma’s house is a gold mine of vintage odds and ends, basically it’s like walking into a really cool antique shop :)

This was shortly after The Budget Savvy Bride got married and posted her lovely tablescape pictures…

So there I’m sitting on the couch taking in my surroundings when I am struck with an epiphany. I quickly lure mom into our room and show here BSB’s beautiful mixed and matched glassware centerpieces and tell her my idea. Follow that up with a call to my dad regarding his opinion and I was ready to ask my Grandma for the biggest wedding favor :)

She of course said yes!

So in the beginning of October we made the drive up to the Big D and loaded up like 5 boxes worth of my Grandma’s vintage cut glass goblets and wine glasses. Because we didn’t want to melt wax on her glasses and risk permanent damage, we decided to use LED throwies and clear marbles to create glowing light orbs inside each glass and have various one staggered at each table.

We kept a detailed log of how many we took and I gave my grandma a solemn promise I would do everything in my power to make sure they all made it home safely.

Oh and she also gave us 32 vintage mason jars, which meant we only had pick up an additional 2! :)

There I was happy as a clam because everything was working out… or so I thought.

2 weeks later I am at the above mentioned wedding shower and the above mentioned tradition of the guests taking home the centerpieces was revealed to me. I was crushed! I’m pretty sure I cried at some point to. There was no way we could risk someone walking off with one of my Grandma’s heirloom glasses during our wedding reception. My dreams of incorporating a little piece of family history were dashed.

I quickly tried to get over it though and move ahead with a new solution.

Enter Ebay.

So they aren’t family heirlooms but they are vintage and I can happily say we have now reacquired all the glassware we need to cover our tables and they are safely wrapped and boxed until the big day :)

Just under half the glasses were a little plainer and because we no longer had to worry about permanent damage from melted wax, we went ahead and created candle holders out of those.

This was my attempt of melting the wax down. Mistake #1: melting each tealight individually. Mistake #2: using 4 hour burn candles. But hey what are moms for other than to point out your foolishness and show you a better way :P

Here’s what they looked like before getting wrapped and boxed…

We are still using the Mason jars as wild sunflower vases with twine tied around the lips and maybe a little tag hanging off. The idea is to have one mason bouquet vase, two glasses, and one glass bottle number at each table.

At the end of the day I have to say everything worked out. Maybe not exactly how I envisioned but now I don’t have to stress about this one other item on the list.

Did anyone else have crazy centerpiece fiascos? Or did you have to work with a local or cultural tradition in selecting your centerpieces?

So I’ve been out of commission for the last 2 days b/c I have a severe throat infection and cold.

I’m taking 15 doses of these babies…

But hopefully these will get me back in tip-top shape for my crazy wedding weekend. Got a bridal shower and wedding on the SAME day!

And I promise to post all about it, including the latest version of the money bouquet :) And let me give you a little hint… I practiced some crazy origami this time ;)

Oh so the rest of table topper fabric came in and it’s perfect :) So I’m happy about that. It was kinda cute when my dad came and dropped off the big 40 yard roll on my bed as I lay there in a semi-comatose state drooling… yeah I’m not a pretty sick girl. In fact this afternoon was the first time I showered in like 3 days. Yep I’ve been cherishing my granola scrubby dirty hippy ways :)

Well back to the attempt of catching up with school :-/
